On the 7th of December 2022, the children from 2nd classe enjoyed another trip to Ballyfermot library. This time the focus of the visit was a 'hands on' lesson in arts and crafts, which the children really enjoyed. Each child had the opportunity to create a piece of art.

Science Week

Image
This week the children in Mr McGuire’s 2 nd class took part in Science Week. The class learned a lot about the wonders of science and the world. This week we completed two exciting experiments. Experiment 1: Skittles Rainbow The first experiment revolved around, changing a solid into a liquid. This involved placing a circle of Skittles on a plate, then warm water was applied. After a few minutes, the solid colour on the Skittles started to melt (solid to a liquid) and a wonderful liquid of colours (like a rainbow) could be seen.                                                                                         Experiment 2: Dancing Raisins The second experiment revolved around, a chemical reaction between an acid (vinegar) and a base (baking soda)...

Halloween Celebrations

We had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween in 2nd class. The children learned about the history of Halloween, they made some creative pieces of art (clay pumpkins) and much more. On the Friday before the Halloween break, the children got dressed up to celebrate this seasonal event. We all had a wonderful time.
