School Tour-Fort Lucan

  On Monday 12th June 2023, children from both 2nd classes went on a wonderful school tour to Fort Lucan. The children went on water slides, a pirate ship, a wooden castle and a playground.  They also enjoyed Go-Karting and Crazy Golf, to name but a few activities on offer. Overall, it was a brilliant day that the children will remember for a long time to come. (Mr McGuire)  

Archaeological dig with ‘The Big Dig’

  On the 2 nd May, the children from 2 nd class had the wonderful opportunity to experience a day in the life of an archaeologist. As part of ‘The Big Dig’ experience, children had the chance to handle artefacts and to experience an archaeological excavation. It was a special day, which the children will remember for a long time to come. Class teacher-Mr McGuire

Seachtain na Gaelige: Week 1

  'Dia daoibh'. For the month of March we will celebrate and immerse ourselves into the Gaelic language and culture in school. Many exciting events are planned, as part of 'Seachtain na Gaeilge'; for example 'Rince ceilí', 'Lá glas' agus ' Cluichí sa Chlós'. The children really enjoyed all of the Gaelic activities this week.  'Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit'.                                             

Engineer's Week: 2nd class-Mr McGuire

  Engineers week 6 th -10 th March     As part of Engineer’s Week, we conducted a study on parachutes in 2 nd class.  The children learned basic facts about aerodynamics.  Then in groups, they designed a parachute that would hold a small action figure in air for a short period. As part of the task, children learned to redesign (if required) elements of their parachute. Overall, the children really enjoyed this ‘hands-on’ and exciting activity. (Mr McGuire).

World Book Day

  Today in school we celebrated World Book Day. It was a day that the children really enjoyed. The children brought in their own teddies and listened to stories collectively. It was a special day in school.  (02/03/2023) Mr McGuire (class teacher).

Christmas celebrations

  On Monday 19th December, there was an 'open morning' for parents/guardians of children to visit the school and sit in on some Christmas activities in class. The children really enjoyed the experience, as did the adults. Also, the school choir sang some beautiful Christmas songs.  On the 20th of December, Santa visited to school and gave each child a present. Furthermore, on the 21st December, the children enjoyed fun activities in class, as well as a Christmas party. Enjoy the holidays-Mr McGuire

Visit to the Church

  During the week of the Christmas holidays, the children had an oppertunity to visit our local church and see the crib and nativity in front of the altar. The class also meet Father Adrian for a quick welcome and a Christmas blessing.
