On the 2 nd May, the children from 2 nd class had the wonderful opportunity to experience a day in the life of an archaeologist. As part of ‘The Big Dig’ experience, children had the chance to handle artefacts and to experience an archaeological excavation. Engineers week 6 th -10 th March As part of Engineer’s Week, we conducted a study on parachutes in 2 nd class. The children learned basic facts about aerodynamics. Then in groups, they designed a parachute that would hold a small action figure in air for a short period. As part of the task, children learned to redesign (if required) elements of their parachute. Overall, the children really enjoyed this ‘hands-on’ and exciting activity. (Mr McGuire).
On Monday 19th December, there was an 'open morning' for parents/guardians of children to visit the school and sit in on some Christmas activities in class. The children really enjoyed the experience, as did the adults. Also, the school choir sang some beautiful Christmas songs. On the 20th of December, Santa visited to school and gave each child a present. Furthermore, on the 21st December, the children enjoyed fun activities in class, as well as a Christmas party.
